Uganda’s 398 coronavirus samples test negative

The number of coronavirus cases in Uganda still stands at 48 after all 398 samples tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute turned negative.

Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General of Health Services told journalists yesterday that 980 cases are under follow up in institutional quarantine while 915 contacts to the confirmed cases are under follow up.

“To date, a cumulative 2,629 samples have been tested for Covid-19. The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Uganda still stands at 48,” he said.

Uganda has not yet registered any coronavirus related death.

However, the virus has so far killed 63,924 people and infected 1,182,827 people across the world.

Uganda is still maintaining a transport shutdown and a curfew to contain the spread of the virus.
