Following the guidelines of a medic takes 40% of a patient’s treatment while drugs take 60%, according to Dr Nsubuga, from Vigo Organic Natural and Healthy Products.

He calls upon the public to always adhere to guidelines like change in dietary intake, avoiding taking alcohol, stopping eating food rich in high cholesterol given their high saturated fat content and avoiding a sedentary life by doing aerobics.

Dr Nsubuga says such guidelines are given depending on the disease from which one is suffering.

He highlights that one of the key challenges doctors find with patients as they treat using herbs and sensitisation is failure of some of them to follow the guidelines in relation to their eating and lifestyle.

“Unfortunately, some think that once they have taken the medicine it is enough; which is wrong. You have to change your lifestyle, have enough sleep – if you are to sleep and even do physical exercises,” he advises.

Dr Nsubuga adds that diabetes and high blood pressure, which are some of the most disturbing diseases nowadays, are sensitive to food, drinks and lifestyle.

He says some food or drinks may just escalate one’s ill health if one does not mind and heed to medical guidelines.

Whether it is by use of herbal or non-herbal medicine, a patient must adhere to all the guidelines not only paying attention to drug administration for better treatment, Dr Nsubuga advises.
