Two Catholic priests have been sentenced to serve a more than 40-year-jail term for raping deaf children at a church school.

The priests including Horacio Corbacho and Nicola Corradi and the gardener were found guilty of the charges at the school in Mendoza Province from 2004 to 2016.

The sentence took place on Monday.

The case shocked Argentina, Pope Francis’ home country. Many people accused the Catholic church of being gradual in action.

The Catholic Church has in the past 10 years been widely accused of child sexual abuse in the entire world.

The 59-year-old Argentine priest Corbacho was sentenced to 45 years in jail while 83-year-old Italian Corradi was sentenced to 42 years in prison.

Corbacho was found guilty of sexual abuse at the Instituto Antonio Provola de Mendoza.

Corradi had been investigated for the abuses at the institute’s school in Verona, Italy in the 1970s, but was never charged.

The gardener, Armando Gomez at the Lujan de Cuyo school was sentenced for 18 years in prison.
